Firstly, let me explain who we are. The Alamo Squadron was founded in 2020 as a squadron focused on excellence in the air combat (specifically BVR) arena. We are an air to are focused squadron, but we do occasionally do A2G to chill. We offer a cadet program that progresses you through the various skills and concepts needed to excel at BVR combat. We hope to see you in the virtual skies!
To become an Alamo Squadron Cadet, there are a few requirements.
AVAILABILITY: We know people have busy lives nowadays, and we understand that. However, we ask that, at a minimum, new cadets attend our training sessions once a week. Failure to attend training without notice/communication for over 4 weeks will cause us to remove you from our cadet ranks.
Our main flying times are from 2000z to 2400z, and it is during this time zone that training sessions will be held.
COOPERATION: We are looking for players that 1) work together well, and 2), are willing to take responsibility for their mistakes and learn from them. We also want mature pilots who can show some level of discipline, and be able to receive instruction.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: Tacview is a MUST for recruitment, we can help you set it up if you haven't already. For voice communication, we use Teamspeak and communication software known as Wire.
DCS Modules: We take applicants that fly any of the BVR capable DCS aircraft, but we specialize in the F-15, F-16, F-18, Mirage 2000C, and the Su-27/Su-33/J-11A "Flanker".
No Maps are required, but we frequently fly on Persian Gulf servers, so this is highly recommended as well. Official trainings are always on Caucasus, however.
EQUIPMENT: Although a HOTAS is highly recommended, it is not a must, and a simple joystick will suffice. Head tracking, again while it is very nice to have, is not a must.
SKILL/PROFICIENCY: We take all skill levels, from completely new to experienced. The important thing is that you have an interest and willingness to learn new things and progress forwards in your knowledge.
